BONE MARROW DRIVES & DONATIONS
Thousands of patients with leukemia and other life-threatening diseases need a bone marrow, umbilical cord or stem cell transplant and depend on the Be The Match Registry of the National Marrow Donor Program to find a match - someone like you. Someone willing to help save the life of a patient in need of a transplant. You can make a difference to patients everywhere. When you join the Be The Match Registry, you are taking the first step to save a life. You are also making a commitment to be ready to take the next step if a patient needs you. Be sure you understand what to expect when you join the registry so you feel comfortable with your decision. Discuss it with family or friends, you may need their support if you are ever contacted as a match.
This Foundation is determined to assist in bringing patients to their life-saving donors in any way possible. Due to our efforts, our partnership with the National Marrow Donor Program, and several of you will willing to help, Jacquie For A.L.L. sponsored bone marrow drives have added over 1,200 people to the Be The Match Registry in honor of Jacquie!! These individuals have the potential to directly save a life when called.
Because of these efforts on behalf of Jacquie, several registrants have already recieved calls from the National Marrow Donor Program informing them that they are a potential match for a patient/recipiant. Pending further testing, these invividuals may be the donor that saves the life of a cancer or Leukemia patient!
Please join this program by attending a drive in your area or registering by mail. It is fast, easy and most of all, painless. YOU have the potential to be a life-saving match for a patient just like Jacquie. YOU have been entrusted with this very precious gift called life, now consider giving it back to someone in need. If you have been contacted by the National Marrow Donor Program to be a potential donor, Please let us know!! Whether or not you have actually donated, we would still like to acknowledge you. Several family and friends who have been added to the National Registry in honor of Jacquie have have been called to be the life-saving donor of a patient in need. It is a truly rewarding experience. To date several individuals have been contacted by transplant teams and 9 have already donated to patients in need. It is truly a rewarding and emotional experience. Letters from some of our donors can be found under the Patient Support tab on our website.
